Instytuty o światowej renomie
Duże niemieckie organizacje badawcze reprezentowane są w Brandenburgii przez 19 instytutów: Towarzystwo Fraunhofera, Hermann von Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft, Leibniz-Gemeinschaft, Towarzystwo Maxa Plancka. Dzięki temu Brandenburgia plasuje się na dobrej pozycji zarówno na arenie narodowej, jak i międzynarodowej. Geologiczne Centrum Badawcze GFZ w Poczdamie odgrywa na przykład wiodącą rolę w badaniu i wczesnym ostrzeganiu przed trzęsieniami ziemi. Instytut Innowacyjnej Mikroelektroniki im. Leibniza we Frankfurcie nad Odrą rozwija nowoczesne technologie dla przemysłu półprzewodników, samochodowego, lotnictwa i telemedycyny. Ponadto istnieją inne instytucje badawcze, takie jak prywatny Instytut im. Hasso Plattnera, który od 2017 roku stał się wydziałem Uniwersytetu w Poczdamie. Można tam na przykład zająć się „design thinking“ – forma myślenia skoncentrowanego i kreatywnego na rozwiązaniach z zamiarem uzyskania konstruktywnego wyniku na przyszłość.
